Absolutely Learning still believes in Drupal as a great open source web based learning tool, but for our web site we have switched to Joomla based upon the following experiences from our lead designer Matt Moore. Here is what Matt has to say. "I began using Mambo about two years ago, and I was very impressed with the product, its design, and user-friendliness. It worked well for my classes at The Bishop's School, and the students appreciated the clear communication and the searchability of the product. I , unfortunately, uninstalled that product from my web site after I left because I thought I would not need it again, and I did not think much about an open source web platform again until I started creating this business site. I initially tried Drupal for awhile as some of you saw, but Drupal does not have the dynamic front page that helps a user get where he/she needs to go immediately. Therefore, I decided to try the "Mambo-like" product called Joomla. Wow, is it Mambo? It sure seems like it. It is perhaps the most dynamic user friendly content management system that I have ever encountered. It makes me want to learn a dance called Joomla if one exists. I even built a sample tech support site with it and a personal home page with it. As an educational technologist who wants to concentrate on starting with a great platform, I have to say Joomal gets you up and running quickly. As a computer programmer for the web who concentrates with PHP, MYSQL, Dreamweaver, Flash, and styles sheets, I have to say that the Joomal provides me with a great platform for which I can tailor unique templates with already established and tested database driven code. Joomla is our choice, and Absolutely Learning would like to help you use this fine open source software too so shoot us an email (
